Documentation to enter Italy

Don't forget to check your passport expiration date! To board the flight to Italy, your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your planned departure date from Italy. If you haven’t applied for a passport yet, please account for 3 months for your passport to be processed and delivered.

Main Airports

-Pisa Airport (PSA) – approximately 1 hour by car from Lerici

-Florence Airport (FLR) – around 1.5 hours by car from Lerici

-Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) – 3 hours and 15 minutes by car from Lerici

Car rentals

One of the best ways to reach the Gulf of Poets from any of above suggested airports is by car.
If you are comfortable driving and if you wish to explore the Ligurian Region before or after the wedding events, renting a car is the most flexible and convenient option.

PRIVATE TRANSFERS

If you wish to travel in total comfort, booking a private transfer to/from the main airport is the ideal solution, as it ensures a smooth and care-free arrival.
Considering that September is the high season in Italy, we highly recommend you to arrange your private transportation ahead of time, between 2 and 3 months before the event.

VISIT LIGURIA & THE GULF OF POETS

Lerici
Lerici is a charming Ligurian seaside town, known as the “Pearl of the Gulf”. Its medieval San Giorgio Castle overlooks the sea and today houses a geo-paleontological museum. The town is full of narrow alleys and colored houses and charming churches like San Francesco Church and the Oratory of San Rocco. From its waterfront promenade, you can easily reach the nearby the beach of San Terenzo with its clear waters.

Portovenere
Portovenere is a picturesque medieval fishing village perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Gulf of Poets. Its narrow, colorful tower-houses line the waterfront, giving the town a timeless and enchanting feel. The Church of San Pietro, built in black and white stripes, stands on the cliff edge with breathtaking sea views. High above, Doria Castle dominates the skyline, while nearby you can enjoy a swim Byron’s Cave, just beneath the cliffs where Lord Byron once found inspiration.

The Cinque Terre:
The Cinque Terre (Five Lands) is a stunning stretch of rugged Ligurian coastline made up of five colorful seaside villages perched on cliffs above the Mediterranean, also enlisted as Unesco World Heritage Sites. These five towns (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso) are connected by scenic hiking trails, historic stairways, and terraced vineyards. You can easily reach them by train from La Spezia with the Cinque Terre Express train. Alternatively, ferry boats depart daily from Lerici, Portovenere and La Spezia and offer a breathtaking coastal approach to the villages by sea.

Portofino
Portofino is a glamorous Ligurian village nestled on a rocky promontory, with pastel-colored houses overlooking its tiny harbor. It combines the beauty of the nature with refined luxury, exclusive boutiques and yachts. From its picturesque Piazzetta, visitors can hike to historic spots like Castello Brown and the Lighthouse for stunning sea vistas. The surrounding protected park provides peaceful walking trails through Mediterranean vegetation and coastal cliffs.
